Forster Ranch Landscape Upgrade Updates
Welcome to the project updates page for the Forster Ranch greenbelt landscape transformation. This page will be updated regularly throughout construction to help residents stay informed as work progresses.
This major community improvement will take place in the greenbelt area adjacent to the Forster Ranch monument sign, at the corner of Calle Nuevo and Camino de Los Mares. The project, supported by the H₂OC RainSmart Rebates Program, replaces non-functional turf that is not used for recreation with a beautiful, water-saving, and environmentally friendly design that enhances the neighborhood and reduces long-term costs. This project also helps ensure we’re compliant with new statewide efforts to reduce non-functional grass and taking advantage of rebates while they’re available. Significant rebates from local water and stormwater agencies will help cover the project costs — a major financial benefit to our community.
This transformation will add climate-appropriate plants, upgraded drip irrigation, a DG walking path, and a rainwater-treatment feature that helps keep local waterways clean.
Current Construction Status
This month, our contractor O’Connell Landscape is preparing the site by removing turf and shrubs, grading the area, and prepping the soil.
What’s Next
After preparing the site, they will proceed with installation of the following:
All work is overseen by RainSmart Rebates Program staff and their engineering partners. We expect work to be completed by the Spring. Please check back here for more specific updates on timing as construction proceeds.
Thank You!
We appreciate your patience during construction. These types of improvements are an important investment in our community’s future, both environmentally and financially.
